2001 Maniacs is a film that falls under the genre "Gore-nography". Named such because of the excessive use of gore to shock, as opposed to standard horrors which try and scare you. "Gore-nography" films don't scare you, they're not designed to. They are designed to make you squirm. 2001 Maniacs succeeds in being exceptionally violent, exceptionally gory and, at times, very funny.

This film boasts the usual collection of pretty young people with nice teeth and big boobs. The only recognisable face is Robert Englund, better known for his role as the gruesome and wisecracking Freddy Krueger. Just a note to everyone, if you ever roll into town and Robert Englund is the mayor, or owns a factory, leave as fast as you can.

The film is very well done, for what it is. The director obviously likes the bouncing boobs and the link between sex and death. As highlighted since the 70's, sex = death, and this film is no different. The boys can't keep it in their pants and the girls can't keep their knickers on. And this proves to be their downfall, the only reason they stay is because of the women.

All said and done, this film is exactly what it says on the tin, and apart from the pointless opening scene there's very excess fat around this feature.
