Sometimes producers should watch a movie before releasing it and decide whether the working title for the film is appropriate. Failure To Launch isn't just the films title, it's the movies downfall also. Two fairly likeable leads, Parker and McConaughey have a certain amount of on screen chemistry, are let down by a very weak script.

Even supporting characters are fairly well fleshed out, and there are some very funny scenes (mostly involving animals). The problem is the script is so weak, so predictable and so plodding. In spite of slight chemistry between the leads, there's no real spark, and both characters are fairly un-likeable. In fact the real stand out is Zooey Deschanel as the heavy drinking cynical best friend. She lifts the film in every scene, and I will always have a soft spot for a character that does nothing but drink and screw.

It's a shame that an interesting premise, with a decent cast, should fail to launch. I suppose there's a certain irony in it all, and I can only hope McConaughey chooses better projects from now on!
