I loved Ice Age, I thought it was one of the funniest and prettiest animated movies for a long time. The story entertained me, and the characters interested me. For this reason I approached Ice Age 2 with both excitement and trepidation.

What if it was another crap sequel?

How would I ever cope?

Thankfully I didn't have to, because although not on par with the original, it is still an extremely entertaining movie. The usual suspects re-appear, with Sid still being as annoyingly brilliant as the first. Scratch has a larger part to play, and I can honestly say I could sit through an entire Scratch movie quite easily. Then there's Manny, the mammoth. The sub-plot this time around is Manny's conviction that he is not the last mammoth, and he's proved right when a (shock) female mammoth crosses their path. But here's the curveball, she thinks she's a rodent. Ha ha ha. It really only works in a few scenes, after that it becomes a slight annoyance. Thankfully though, it's not enough of an annoyance to ruin the movie.

The script is as sharp as the first, missing only a few of it's carefully selected targets, and once again the animation is gorgeous. I really believe with output the standard of this there could be room to make Disney work harder
